The dedicated workers in IT Helpdesk jobs provide essential IT support to companies and users. They ensure there is a single point of contact for information and assistance and to troubleshoot problems with computers, software and related products.

Most IT Helpdesks use software such as an issue tracking system or "Local Bug Tracker" (LBT) which allows them to track user requests.

Large IT helpdesks have levels to handle or escalate different requests. The first level answers common questions, a second level will handle more difficult calls and there may even be a third level for specific software needs.
